Fine Art & Fun Crafts captures the true meaning of my artistic body of work. The mix consists of pieces that were created through classic mediums such as acrylics and prints, as well as more playful mediums such as saved objects, candy wrappers, and even children’s toys.
It is my life experiences that serve as my artistic platform, and my approach draws upon conventions of craft, slightly domesticated, and derived from everyday household objects that tend to get overlooked and unnoticed. I have created nostalgic pieces of art with embedded memories by collaging generations of objects I have saved. I have explored possibilities and pushed boundaries with artistic creations by merely using a childhood drawing toy, the Spirograph.
Creating art not only preserves cherished memories, it also provides an outlet for self- expression. I have borrowed phrases from VHS movies and verses from 45’s and cassette tapes and transformed them into methods of managing on a day-to-day basis into a collection of artwork, as well as the personalized gifts I have given, such as reconstructed album covers and altered books.
My body of work, Miss Megon’s Fine Art & Fun Crafts, is quite the mix; it is compiled of a variety of mediums, objects, memories, and self-expression, and whether the art was created by virtue of parenting or therapy, my focus in the art making process thrives off of my life’s experiences, pulling from household objects, domesticated and craft, and will forever return to the physical and conceptual space, which I call home. With Love, Megon
